Chill Factor

Think about a combination of "B" movies; Broken Arrow and Speed. What does this equation equal? A "C" movie. This movie, is Chill Factor. The premise of the movie is a warhead is stolen from a military installation by a former military Captain. The warhead needs to be kept under 50 degrees farenheight or it explodes a cold blast across a 50 kilometer radius. The only hope to get this warhead to safety is a short order chef and an ice cream delivery man.

Skeet ulrich stars in this movie as Tim Mason, a chef in a small town who makes friends with a scientist through fly fishing. The scientist, Dr. Richard Long, has been the lead researcher on the warhead for years. Captain Andrew Brynner was the former Captain in charge of escorting and carrying out the physical tasks of Dr. Long. When test firing the warhead, the detonation radius is miscalculated and all of Brynner's soldiers end up perishing in the blast. He is held responsible and sent to prison. When he gets out, he plots to use the warhead against the country that imprisoned him and seeks out Long. Long escapes Brynner and his mercenaries to give the warhead to Mason as he dies.

Before Long's death, Mason meets Arlo, a ice cream delivery man who has stolen the truck because of a disagreement he had with his boss. The two get into an argument about paying for the ice cream Arlo is carrying and he happens to be in the resturaunt when Long arrives. Long dies and Mason hijacks Arlo and his ice cream truck to keep the temperature down.

The story follows with problem after problem. With Brynner hot on their tails, Mason and Arlo are forced to seek help from the government but end up running from the local police and Brynner. Eventually they get their help, but it is too late. The two build a strange relationship, usually a clash of egoes occurs, and they just hope to get out of it alive.

This isn't a great movie, but it certainly is a fun one. The premise is typical of an action thriller and as expected, the world doesn't blow up. The jokes are quick, the acting decent and the action superb. The movie keeps you guessing, but all follows as expected. Just think, Speed on ice.
