Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me

What was I to expect from Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me? To be completely honest, not much. I never saw the original movie, International Man of Mystery and wasn't all that interested in this movie. Don't get me wrong, I love Mike Myers and all that he's done, but that was in Wayne's World, and that was ages ago. But anyways, I wasn't planning to see it but it was the only movie playing at a decent time.

That was a week and a half ago. Since then I think I may have gone a bit overboard. I've seen Austin Powers 2, three times since that Saturday night. Mostly because there was nothing better to do. But I really enjoyed the movie, it was a lot more than what I expected of it. There was a huge mix of sight gags, one liners, sick jokes & a fat ass and a midget to complete things.

Austin Powers 2 had some of the most unique characters I've ever seen. Besides the usual Dr. Evil & his evil henchmen, and Austin Powers and a female spy, I thought that it was a great idea to throw in Fat Bastard and Mini-Me. Each character had their chance to develop since the movie had a few multiple side plots going on. Number 2 trying to suggest plans of action to increase the organizations assets, Frau as the only woman on the Evil Organization and the "lover" of Dr. Evil, Scott Evil as a rebelling teen trying to connect with his father, Fat Bastard as just a mercenary full of himself and full with food, Mini-Me as a viscious little animal but kind of cute at the same time, Dr. Evil as...Dr. Evil, Felicity Shagwell as an American CIA agent who is caring but dedicated to the mission, Austin Powers as...Austin Powers, Mustafah as the assassin that wouldn't die and Jerry Springer as Jerry Springer.

The plot was pretty interesting, filled with the typical cliches and everything else. "Ripped Off" names and phrases worked right in to the plot.

Personally I loved every persons signature style. Especially Mini-Me's finger and Fat Bastard's obsession with babies..."I want my baby back baby back baby back...ribs"

Well basically, if you know what kind of stuff to expect or you're expecting a total piece of crap, Austin Powers is a good movie. It lives up to the standards that it has set with the original. There's at least a little something for everybody with this sequel.

I must say that New Line Cinema's ad campaign for if you're going to see one movie, see Star Wars. If you're going to see two...see Austin Powers. That idea was definitly pretty good. Right down to the line, "Austin, I am your father..." But I'm going to travel through time now. Adieu...
