Scary Movie

This movie was exactly what it was pushed as. It was a scary movie. For the first time in my 18 years, I have left a movie theatre feeling scared, frightened and traumatized. No no, don't get me wrong, the movie wasn't actually a scary movie. It was...how do you say...disturbing? Wrong? Out of place? DISGUSTING??? Let's just say there is more than enough "heads" rolling in this movie for Ichabod Crane and William Wallace to worry about.
Scary Movie had it's moments, be them few and far between. But a lot of the so called "humor" that was produced was sick, twisted, random and out of place. For instance, other than the many various male genatalia (which would make a certain film teacher sceam "PHALLIC SYMBOL" every other minute), during the fight between the masked killer and Cindy, she floats in the air a'la The Matrix. Okay, it's a spoof, how cute. Shortly after kicking the killer like Carrie Anne-Moss, Cindy goes into an Irish jig while hovering in the air.
It was, however, a funny movie. But don't expect much beyond the previews of actual funny humor versus disturbing humor. Some pluses were the stoned scenes, the Matrix fight and the neverending list of rips from every single (horrible) horror movie of the past decade. Scary Movie spoofs scenes from I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, The Blair Witch Project, The Matrix, Dawson's Creek, Clueless, The Exorcist and the Budweiser "WHAAZZAAAAAP" ad campaign.
The cast was probably the best part of this movie. All of them were talented, especially Cheri Oteri, Lochlyn Munro and Jim Breuer. The chemestry between the cast was good, had the script been...well...a script, they would have done much better.
If this movie reflects a generation...I'm not sure whether to put this, NSync or Britney Spears (E-mail My Heart??? What kinda song is that???) into a time capsule and open it in front of my grandchildren and say, "Didn't it suck to be me?" Go see it if you're prepared for unneeded sex, stupid humor, fair acting and unneeded sex. I said that already didn't I. I'm sorry, I just feel so...disturbed.
